Meet Grace
I’m Grace Knight, a designer with a love for science, technology, and the ideas that sit between them. I work across creative direction, brand strategy, and visual communication, helping organizations turn complex ideas and emerging technologies into clear, compelling, and tangible stories.
My career began at Ecovative, where I showed the world what mycelium can be—from designing and growing mushroom exhibitions like the Mushroom Stage at SynBioBeta and Smithsonian Futures, to collaborating on projects like Ouroboros Steak, exhibited at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, featured in the New York Times, and nominated for Beazley Design of the Year. Between 2018–2025, I visually translated the brilliance of nature’s technology into stories that brought people into the future we were imagining. Along the way, I created new products which branched into new divisions and a food spin off, My Forest Foods, managed branding partnerships, and ultimately rebuilt and led Grow.bio, the community and education division.
I received my Bachelor’s of Design in Industrial Design from RISD, with a concentration in Nature, Culture, and Sustainability. Outside the design curriculum, I filled my time with science classes, biomimicry challenges, and experiments with biomaterials—earning the Yousef Karsh Design Science Award in 2016 and Rachel Carson Award in 2018. Questioning the status quo is what brought me to the space in between, where I could combine the curiosity of a scientist with the problem-solving of a designer. I love the intersection of technology, science, and design, the complexities it brings, and finding the story underneath that makes people care.
